Designed as a retro interpretation of a Roman Coliseum, CityWalk's Hard Rock Live quickly became known as Orlando's "Coliseum of Rock." The 140,000 square foot facility opened and held its first concert in January 29,1999. It featured Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh. However, its grand opening celebration was on March 12, 1999, and it featured a concert by Sir Elton John.
The Hard Rock Live has a 3,000-person capacity, and is adjacent to the world's largest Hard Rock Cafe. It features local, national, and international artists, making it Florida's most versatile venue. Almost all the seats at the Hard Rock Live provide a panoramic stage view. For those that can't see what's going down on stage, the facility boasts two 10x10 video walls that flanks the stage, as well as state-of-the-art sound, light, and video technology. The first two levels of the venue are for general admission ticket holders, but the third layer of seating is the oh-so-plush VIP section with luxuriously faux leather seats to relax and enjoy the show.
