Rollins College named this concert hall after John Meyer Tiedtke, a man who contributed greatly to the campus and its arts programs. He first began his work with Rollins College in the 1930's when he started teaching photography at Rollins. It soon followed into the 1940's when he began teaching business administration classes. He eventually served as Dean of Graduate Programs, Vice President of Finance, and even on the school's Board of Trustees. While he was a talented businessman, Tiedtke was also a patron of the arts. He contributed money, support and time to Rollins' art programs, as well as supported many of Orlando's artistic venues and institutions.
