Description:

Located on nearly two acres in the center of downtown Orlando, Heritage Square sits amid nearly 100 bald cypress trees, sable palms and plants of all kinds, celebrating the city that was plotted exactly one mile north, south, east and west from the site. The urban park is the "front yard" for the Orange County Regional History Center, formerly the Orange County Courthouse, with landmarks that include bronze statues of alligators and a likeness of Bunk Baxter, an 1880s native cowboy famous for wrestling alligators downtown.
Near the history center's entrance, a 15-foot- high postcard sculpture captures vignettes of early Florida, including the celery fields of nearby Sanford, citrus groves, a Brahma bull from Kissimmee and a mother's postcard writings while vacationing in Orlando in 1916. Throughout the year, the park hosts festivals, concerts and special events, but nearly every day you'll find downtown execs lunching on the benches and kids splashing in the interactive pop-jet fountain.
